Accessing a website is all about loading something from an external server to your device. Currently, it’s a good and common practice for sites to use a protected HTTPS connection while interacting with your device. However, some sites or resources which your browser tries to load, don’t use it by default connecting using HTTP. As a result, your data is transmitted via an unsafe connection. It is better to avoid it, and here is how 1Blocker can help.
You can create a rule that prevents Safari from connecting via HTTP. In other words, the browser will always try to connect via HTTPS if possible.
Making a site HTTPS-only in 1Blocker Safari extension
On iOS:
- Open the site in Safari;
- Open 1Blocker extension from the Safari Share icon;
- Enable toggle "Make Site HTTPS-Only";
- Tap "Done".
On macOS:
- Open the site in Safari;
- Open 1Blocker Actions extension;
- Enable toggle "Make Site HTTPS-Only".
Making a site HTTPS-only in the app
On iOS:
- Launch 1Blocker;
- Go to Safari > Custom > Force HTTPS;
- Tap "New" in the upper-right corner;
- Put your rule’s name (optional), specify the site and choose whether to apply the rule to its subdomains or not;
- Tap "Save".
On macOS:
- Launch 1Blocker;
- Go to Custom > Force HTTPS;
- Press the "New Rule" button in the lower-right corner;
- Put your rule’s name (optional), specify the site and choose whether to apply the rule to its subdomains or not;
- Tap "Save".
